This video from the Teachers College 2012 Annual Winter Roundtable at Columbia University presents a lecture featuring Dr. Guerda Nicolas, who shares his experience with the mental health needs in low and middle income countries, specifically discussing Haiti.
A recent series of international reports illustrates the urgency of responding to the mental needs of persons in low and middle income countries. However, many of these countries are not equipped with the resources to respond to a growing treatment gap. This talk shares some of the guidelines that have been used to implement sustainable international mental health programs and uses Haiti as a case study to provide an illustrative framework of a sustainable model of mental health programs.
